IFBB Pro Shawn Labega in recovery after partial leg amputation

While in preparation for the 2018 Arnold Classic Columbus Shawn Lebega, Men’s Physique Pro suffered a blot clot in his right calve. Surgeon removed blood clot, but even with nerve replacement from his thigh to ankle and calve complications including poor circulation have resulted in the need to amputate his leg from the knee down. This all occurring only a few weeks out from when he would have been competing on the Arnold Classic stage. Labega stated, “I’ll be back on stage Arnold 2019. I don’t quit or give up. Wasn’t built that way. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead of me.” Lebega earned pro status at the 2013 Team Universe and competed in numerous pro shows taking the masters title at the 2017 IFBB Karina Nascimento Pro, third place at IFBB Baltimore Grand Prix 2017 along with competing in the New York Pro & Pittsburgh Pro.
Ifbb Pro Shawn Labega is in recovery today after partial leg amputation due to blood clot. Shawn is out of the Arnold Classic 2018 lineup, but don't count him out. Posting positively throughout this ordeal that began last week Shawn is eager to embrace the challenges ahead.

Mel Chancey Hospitalized with Artery Blockage!

Mel reported from the hospital he had a 75% artery blockage that required a stent be installed. He reported no symptoms and it was discovered during his pro-active healthcare regimen. Mel has become much more than the bodybuilding personality and former motorcycle gang leader after a Christian turn around he's taken on new leadership responsibilities as an NPC-IFBB event promoter, mentor and advisor to industry leaders and newbies alike. IFBB Pro League Legends Classic Bikini Pro 2018

IFBB Pro League Legends Classic Bikini Pro kicks off the 2018 pro show season in Las Vegas on February 10th!
Fifteen ladies representing six states in the US along with Mexico, Brazil and a Philippine transplant will be vying for points toward the Olympia Qualification Series.
Eli Fernandez representing Mexico with back to back wins at the 2016 & 2017 IFBB Baltimore Grand Prix may be a statistical favorite, but bikini like all divisions can't be judged till the day of the contest.
Samantha Bornstein of Florida will be making her pro debut as will Ashley Bruno, Tara Grier, Lura Orsino & probably the smallest lady at the show Anh Vu, but of course dynamite comes in small packages.
A cute Sherry Espera will be repping California after earning her pro status representing the Philippines at the Arnold Amateur. Michelle Mein Hurst, one of the division veterans has won numerous masters titles over the years and places highly in the open. Always in shape Michelle will push the rest of the lineup.
After a few years away from the stage Naiara Shubert made a comeback in 2017 competing in half a dozen shows. It will be interesting to see Shubert's improvements this year.
Angela Skeel's the 2012 National Champion returns to the stage at the Legends. Can't count her out considering her tagline via JM Manion that "She's Got Skeels".

Lionel Beyeke began working out at the age of 19 while training for martial arts. He practiced Karate and was full contact fighter for six years.
As a youth, Beyeke’s favorite bodybuilding inspiration came from Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler and Ronnie Coleman. Ask him today and he adds Dexter Jackson and Cedric McMillan to the list.
Beyeke stormed onto the bodybuilding scene with his surprising 2nd place finish at the 2009 Arnold Amateur. Beyeke soon won his pro card. It took him just three years to notch his first Pro victory at the Flex Pro.
Beyeke is considered by many to have some of the best genetics in bodybuilding. If his conditioning improves notching more wins will soon follow.

Competitor numbers range up into the 500s, but there was a podium with top three awards with just two figure competitors and then for overall comparison pics 2 competitors for figure, four classic, four men's physique , two bikini and only two images of one bodybuilder, which there were more bodybuilders as they were shown in a comparison lineup video on Sheru's IG.
This was the second pro league international pro qualifier with Tunisia being the first on January 5th and no information followed from one initially scheduled as 2nd show on schedule in Iran. Thus, the pro league international pro qualifiers would appear to be a good opportunity for competitors looking to turn pro from anywhere in the world including NPC competitors in the U.S. to without the requirement to qualify for nationals stand a good chance of earning pro status.

The IFBB Sheru Classic Latin America/Colombia Pro show was held on February 17-18, 2018 in Medellin, Colombia with two IFBB Pro League Classes represented including Men’s Physique & Bikini. The number two men’s physique pro in the IFBB Pro League Andre Ferguson of the USA took the top spot in this event just two weeks out from the Arnold Classic Columbus adding to his record as the winiest physique pro in the league. Fernando Chala Blandon of Colombia made his country proud taking the second spot behind luckylibra. Raymond Edmonds, Team Ventura teammate of Andre took the third spot. Both those gentlemen were already qualified for the 2018 Olympia. Logan Franklin dissatisfied with his forth place finish thanked his fans on IG as he prepares for the Arnold Classic. Jacques Dalce took 5th and traveling with his wife spoke highly of Colombia and the experience. Gaston Bitterman of Argentina took 6th. Geobanny Paula took 7th and with being Cuban-Colombian noted he had a special experience in Medellin as his father saw him compete for the first time. Geobanny is also a seasoned NPC & IFBB contest promoter and is looking into hosting an IFBB Pro League Qualifier in Cali Colombia in 2019. Alejandro Castro took the 8th spot. Franklin Valverde was pleased with his pro debut and rounded out the placings for IFBB Pro men’s Physique. In Pro Bikini Romina Basualdo “Bass” for short of Argentina took the top placing and was a favorite going into the competition being prequalified for the 2018 Olympia. Elisa Pecini of Brazil took se
cond earning additional points in the Olympia Qualification Series as she was one of the leaders with Kerryne Henich who took second at last weeks Legends Pro in Vegas. Kim Gutierrez of Brazil took the 3rd spot. Eli Fernandez of Mexico who likewise competed last week at the Legends in Vegas took the 4th spot. Rachel Gonzalez a late entry to the competitor list took 5th. Jessica Renee of Miami Beach took the 6th place. Margaret Gnarr of Iceland who is prequalified for the 2018 Olympia took seventh. Francesca Lauren of the USA took 8th. Karelin Marte turned pro at 2017 NPC National Championships and placed 9th.
Sheru Aangrish made history in Colombia having the first brand in the IFBB Pro League to have events on three continents. Shannon Dey emceed the event working with Sheru around the globe over many years. First NPC Athlete Earning IFBB Pro Status Abroad
Karelin Marte made history as the first bikini overall winner earning pro status at the IFBB Pro League qualifying Olympia South America, in Medellin, Colombia. Considering her last competition was the 2017 NPC National Championships in Miami she may have set another historic mark as the first U.S. citizen and NPC member to win pro status at one of the IFBB Pro League International Pro Qualifiers. “Less than 5 months I did my first competition as novice and open at San Antonio classic, a show I will always remember where I place 1 in open and novice @spectrumfitnessproductions and amazing show, after one more I went to Miami nationals this November and place 3 only 2 points to get my pro card on a first national and the most competitive in USA an amazing experience and I got feed back from olympia head judge Sandy and was great and I worked with coach David Schachterle for 8 weeks more for this show @mrolympiasa my goal was to earn my Pro Card and to win the Overall Title.” Congratulations to Marte and her coach David Schachterie. Classic Physique at the New Zealand Pro 2018 has an interesting mix of competitors with two natives of New Zealand including Kenny O’Malley a taller competitor and recent convert from bodybuilding and Mateo Vaihu known for his conditioning and ability to suffer. No recent pics on social of Mateo to assess. Paul Vu the first Classic Physique pro representing Australia is shredded and ready for business at this debut after winning Arnold Australia Amateur overall title. Nelson Lopes of the UK, turned pro at Arnold Brazil 2017 and has that Santi Aragon sort of pleasing aesthetic and will be ready having giving us a preview with a guest posing at the recent Royal London Pro. Chang Keun Kim better known as CK Kim of Korea is likely the most seasoned competitor and my pick for winning the New Zealand Pro 2018 with aesthetics, size, conditioning and good looks having earned IFBB Pro status in the Arnold Classic Australia Amateur last weekend, but having been a favored pro of another federation for years.
