The common denominator is a large scale collection of people striving for the appearance of fitness even if not necessarily healthy. Lady Pioneers of Fitness: Ms Olympia #2; Finnish Ritva “Kike” Elomaa became the second Ms Olympia bodybuilding title holder succeeding Rachel McLish in 1981. A nurse in her native Finland she retired from bodybuilding in 1983 after high placings during those years at the Olympia and Worlds. Elomaa has been recognized as Finland’s most successful bodybuilder and was inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame in 2001. Every class at any bodybuilding contest can have its own tension and character as was the case with the bikini novice class at the Renegade Classic 2016. Athletes were allowed to do individual posing during prejudging followed by comparisons. Thursday night Tony Curtis promoter of the Gainesville Classic cancer charity fundraising bodybuilding contest recieved a call from a French speaking gentleman in a very loud and excited tone noting he must compete in the Gainesville Classic. Its worth noting Dan Acosta competing in the over 70 division at the Florida State Championships was joined in the audience VIP section by his wife Georgia Acosta who looks magnificent to this day having a very successful career as a professional bodybuilder competing at the first year of the division in the Olympia (1980) and three additional occasions as well as being a popular fitness model of the era.
