Will Olympia Reward Participation Over Winning?
As top 20 point earners in the Olympia Qualification series are invited to the Olympia it appears they will expand the invites to include those tied as currently for bikini four competitors have 8 points each and they are separated from the rest of the pack. With over twenty-five contests in the calendar year it will be interesting to see several things such as if all those invited based on points won a show in 2018 or if some who earned points at multiple shows, but did not win beat out some actual show winners and get the invite instead. For instance, Olha Horobets with 8 points and one win is at the bottom of the current list of those that would get invites if the cut off was June 6th, but numerous athletes above her have not won a show.
Top 20 (plus ties for 20th) point getters in IFBB Pro League Bikini on this date:
Elisa Pecini (Brazil) 40 Kim Gutierrez (Chile) 24 Marcia Goncalves (Brazil) 24 Frida Paulsen Stern (Sweden) 23 Janet Layug (USA) 22 Raphaela Milagres (USA) 20 Darah Diaz (USA) 19 Mariella Pellegrino (Italy) 19 Camile Periat (USA) 17 Sherry Espera (USA) 16 Ashley Jenelle (USA) 15 Sheena Jayne Martin (New Zealand) 14 Lauralie Chapados (Canada) 12 Eli Fernandez (Mexico) 11 Natoshia Coleman (USA) 11 Isha Barrow (USA) 10 Kerryne Henich (USA) 9 Michelle Hurst (USA) 9 Amber Callahan (USA) 8 Olha Horobets (USA) 8 Tiffany Servatius (USA) 8 Cristobalina Pajares (Spain) 8

NPC President Reverses Changes Made In Florida NPC Organization

On Independence Day, July 4, 2018 Joe Pishkula updated the description of the "NPC FLORIDA, Official Page" on facebook to read, "An organization under the umbrella of the National Physique Committee (NPC); with Peter Potter as South Florida District Chairman, Joe Pishkula as Central Florida District Chairman, and Mike McKinney as North Florida District Chairman.
In conjunction with NPC Women Chairperson Shannon Dey and NPC Florida Ambassador-at-Large Tim Gardner.
NPC Competitive Divisions:
Mens Bodybuilding, Womens Bodybuilding, Mens Physique, Womens Physique, Bikini, Figure, Mens Classic Physique and Fitness.
The NPC is the only organization where you can compete and get your IFBB Professional League pro card and the Mr. Olympia."
John Hawley posted question to this update on July 5, "Why is the "District Chairman" language still in place as those territories were redrawn as zones at the end of 2017? Would assume the districts are synonymous with the zones listed on the website.
https://floridanpc.org/leadership."
Dennis Fancher, Former NPC Florida Central District Chairman who was rumored to have been ousted from that position in December 2017 responded on July 5, "They have now been changed back to districts - no longer zones".
Seeking further clarification John Hawley posted inquiring followup, "Good to see you are still in the know and answering questions here on the former Central District facebook page Pete. Was the latest move simply a name change? Are the redrawn lines still in place or did they go back to the old district lines as well?"
Fancher responded, "Only the change of name as directed by the President - still in the shadows supporting these great district promoters any way I can."
No corroboration from officials at any level on the changes or what the changes mean for the zones or districts or the reason according to Fancher for the NPC President's reversal on changes he directed in a December 1, 2017. The NPC Florida State website continues to list at the original directive renaming district leadership zone chairs and redrawing districts into zones.

Musclepapa Steps Away From Some Federation's Official Show Coverage

$

Contest promoters musclepapa.com is available to cover your event, but I request press access to be allowed to share contestant information in real time including photos and video on social media and with Facebook live. In the last week I've made changes to which federation's contests I cover on-the-ground in person as press rep or photo & video vendor. Although I love my NPC & IFBB contest promoter friends and the athletes that federation management unduly demands show photographers provide their company the images first before we are allowed according to them to promote them whatsoever on social media, in our own galleries, etc restricting the photographers from doing so whatsoever even where we were paying vendors. No facebook live is allowed either as again the federation leadership insists on sole marketing value from the athletes appearing on stage at local events even though it takes them many days after being provided them to promote whatsoever. I get it that they want to squeeze every bit of profit out of the local circuit that they can, but in the process they hurt local contest promotions where numbers of participants are down and the federation provides no compensation to the photographers or promoters who are essentially little more than franchise operators being squeezed by the franchise. The federation franchise takes sanction fees and membership dues and demands first and foremost that promoters maintain allegiance with whatever Pittsburgh edicts are passed down for the financial benefit of their ownership not the interests of the athletes, officials or promoters. I'm quickly replacing my prior schedule of contest coverage with different federations events where they welcome unfettered promotion of their events at the grassroots level and will continue to promote NPC & IFBB athletes and promotions despite no plans to shoot them officially to avoid having federation leadership take from me what is not theirs to take.

Juliana Malacarne Retires Prior to 2018 Olympia

End of an Era in Women’s Physique
Juliana Malacarne 4x IFBB Pro League Women’s Champion retires just two months out from the 2018 Olympia and a week after the passing of Tracy Hess. Her retirement fuels speculation as to who the heir to the title will be. The number one contender Jennifer Taylor Saunders has not competed this year focused only on the Olympia title whereas up and comers Shanique Grant took the Arnold Columbus title with Natalia Coehlo likewise in the winners circle in the lead up to the big show. Juliana goes out most certainly as the queen of her kingdom having earned her spot in history as only the second Olympia title holder in the division and as one of the most respected for proportion, style and grace. The Bikini Pro Reset

$
0
0
Olha Horobets, bikini pro has had up and down placings from first to last within two weeks at various IFBB Pro League contests. After a 16th spot at New York Pro under head judge Tyler Manion Olha seemed like just another number in a sea of bikini competitors a division that gets little respect even though the ladies typically have the most mainstream appeal. A week later came the Dennis James Pro in Phoenix, Arizona and under head judge Sandy Williamson (only one on NPC salary over many years) Olha pulled out a first place win. Question came to mind that possibly the grandson of the NPC & IFBB Pro League president who presided as head judge over the New York pro bikini judging panel had overlooked Olha. Noting it would be interesting to hear an interview with Manion on what he looks for when judging his photographer father JM sniped back he would be looking for the best on stage….okay. Then, two weeks after her DJP win Olha dropped to 8th at the Miami Muscle Beach under Tres and this weekend at the IFBB Pro League Battle in the Desert there was a reset of Sandy Williamson’s first place to Olha as she again judged her and put her 17th in this lineup with Ashley K taking first and a six month postpartum India Paulino placing third. Other bikini pros in those lineups included Isha Barrow who placed 6th at the DJP and dropped to 12 this week in Vegas. Tiffany Servatius dropped from 3rd at the DJP to 13th in Vegas. Kenyne Henich who won the Patriots pro against 18 other pros recently was most consistent with an 8th place at the DJP and 7th in Vegas. The placement of Olha at the Dennis James Bikini Pro appears to have been a fluke overseen by Sandy Williamson. Olha who comes in with more defined abs on an athletic structure may need to do more cardio and start eating at Burger King to come in softer or up the dosage and morph to figure where she might be more competitive in a few years. Kudos to the pro league judges for keeping bikini in check from moving too close to figure, which has become little different from women’s physique and add a few pounds and less conditioning female bodybuilding in recent years. Kudos to Olha for doing bikini her way wherein you win some and lose some. Just keep paying your dues sister and you look incredible in your own right as do most pros.

212 Bodybuilding Axed from 2018 Arnold Classic

After being axed from the Arnold Classic Columbus 2019 schedule will it likewise be dumped from Olympia as happened with female bodybuilding?
With little fanfare the 212 bodybuilding division was eliminated from the 2018 Arnold Classic roster. AMI now with total ownership of the Olympia made a similar move following the Arnold's lead when female bodybuilding was eliminated from their grand stage. While Wings of Strength chose to invest in propping up the female bodybuilding circuit even though influential individuals in the IFBB Pro League were publicly bad mouthing that division there is no indication at this time that 212 bodybuilding with the announced retirement of Flex Lewis will not likewise be retired in 2019.
The results of the 2018 Final year of 212 Bodybuilding were:
1. Kamal Elgargni, $22,000
2. Charles Dixon, $10,000
3. Samir Troudi, $6000
4. Davis Henry, $4000
5. Jose Raymond, $2000
6. Guy Cisternino, $1000

Bodybuilding As the Global Bizarre of Bunco, Pain & Suffering

$
0
0
Though more regular than federation leaders admit are the deaths of athletes backstage at events along with heart attacks the day before and after due to strains on the heart by performance enhancing drug cocktails and dehydration along with detrimental physical and psychological health impacts that shorten the competitive lifestyle of many.
The bodybuilding judging standards that reward ever expansive extremes beyond their own written rules is directly related to the influence of drug dealers and sex traffickers working in the industry that encourage and profit from extremes and deviation from health and fitness. Contest prep trainers facilitate the drug trade that delivers the drugged up elite athletes to key contests in mass. Key figures in the credentialed press corp are sex trade operatives serving in their official industry roles as the gateway for these hypersexualized induced athletes into forms of prostitution.
The federations that serve as the conduit for such health and legal risk to the athletes attempt to shield their key stakeholders behind lax rules and regulations regarding PEDs and omission of even the most simplistically written mission statements or codes of ethics. Anything goes and they claim they aren't responsible for any of it although they directly profit from it. Bodybuilding is essentially divided into two camps that for simplicity's sake could be said to be good and evil. The good is represented by proponents of bodybuilding as something that is beneficial to health and fitness. The other more monied unethical proponents of evil don't care about health and fitness, but see athletes as dollar signs that pour in from entry fees, membership dues and in residual income glued together in the form of a global bizarre of bunco, drug abuse, prostitution, pain and suffering. Yes I'm talking about the NPC & IFBB Pro League among others.

IFBB Pro League Coverup or Coverage Tardiness?

$
0
0
As the number of athletes receiving pro cards abroad ramps up to over twenty in shows such as the Sept 23rd San Marino & upcoming Sheru Classic the league has come under fire for issuing pro cards in divisions where for instance only one competitor showed up as with women's physique at the August 4th Singapore Pro Qualifier. Is it a coincidence that after being criticized for that the official site for the IFBB Pro League has not posted any further complete competitors' lists beyond Bob Cicherillo's British Championships on August 18, 2018?
As this reporter has been critical of the IFBB Pro League providing pro cards to athletes where there is no minimum number required in a division such as other federations did this negative attention result in a further lack of transparency, a coverup per say or is the IFBB Pro League too busy to give this slight degree of recognition to the athletes that pay entry fees?
